RP Series 2-Jaw Parallel Gripper with Roller Bearing
The parallel motion of the jaw is generated by a pinion/rack drive. The jaw movement is guided precisely by roller bearings. The housing is made from hard coated aluminium with functional parts constructed from hardened tool steel. RPW Series 2-Jaw Parallel Gripper with Sliding Guide
The parallel movement of the jaws is generated by pinion/rack drive by means of two double working pneumatic cylinders. The jaw guidance is achieved by two guide rods. The RPW has a low profile, rugged design and large support areas. The gripper attachment is possible from two sides with a stroke up to 114mm.

IPW Wide Body 2- Jaw Parallel Gripper
Heavy duty, wide body parallel gripper. Long fingers.

The IPW parallel grippers feature a wide body design ideal for handling large and wide parts with long fingers. Stroke up to max 200mm. Gripper attachment possible rom two sides. The jaws are supported through the full length of the body for high moment carrying capacity and are sealed against chips or particles, which makes it ideal for use in machining or foundry applications. The gripper can be supplied “non-synchronous”, allowing for the fingers to centre on the part instead of gripper centre-line.
The large support areas of the support shafts allow for long fingers, high gripping forces, high loading moments, and long life in demanding production applications.

IPG 120-Long Stroke Parallel Gripper
Heavy duty. Long stroke. Low profile.

These two parallel grippers feature a long stroke and low profile and they are often used to handle different size parts with the same fingers. IPG-120 comes in a hydraulic version where a high gripping force is needed. The jaws and supports are made of hardened tool steel and the body is made of lightweight, hard anodized aluminium.

RPC Series 3-Jaw Parallel Gripper with Sliding Guide
The parallel movement of fingers is generated by a wedge-hook transmission and a double acting piston. The transmission of the forces is realised over three surfaces spreading the wear load. Extremely rugged design by large dimensional jaw guidance. These automation modules are available as DIN/ISO Grippers with adaption flange.The IPR parallel grippers are heavy duty and rugged for reliable operation. Sealed jaws protect the internal mechanism from chips and coolant in machining applications. RA Series Angular Gripper
Heavy duty, over the centre toggle locking angular grippers with massive gripping force used in applications where large and heavy parts must be handled. These large bore, double acting piston actuated grippers, feature slip fit dowel locating holes for accurate location of unit to mounting apparatus and jaws. Hard coat anodizing with Teflon™ impregnating ensures long life and minimal wear to gripper bodies.

WG Series Angular Grippers
The angular grippers with 180° opening, WG-25 and WG-35, features a double rack and pinion drive which generates a constant velocity, reducing impact and vibration at end of stroke. They are primarily used for small parts handling.
The WG-80 features 3 Jaws with a 15° opening per finger.
The large angular grippers, WG-125 and WG-160, come in 2 or 3 Jaws and are used for large parts. They feature an ISO mounting flange and mount directly to the Robot without an Adapter Plate.

GRIPPER Accessories

HK Series Rubber Grip Pads for Grippers
Increased gripping friction. Protection for delicate parts.
These Grip Pads, made of perbunan bound on an aluminium plate, can be cut, bent, and drilled to conform with the shape of the part to be handled.

This is the ideal material for gripper pads when increased friction is necessary or when the surface of the part needs to be protected.
We use a proprietary process for bonding the perbunan to the aluminium that produces a high quality product which will not separate under stress.

 

DSV Double Check Valve

To prevent leakage in case of pressure loss in pneumatic grippers and to avoid loss of workpiece in case of pressure loss. The DSV is attached externally at the gripping module. Four different models available.The decrease of pressure has been tested at smaller than 0.2 bar at 2cm cubed over a 42 hour test period.

FUNCTIONAL MODULES- Compliance Devices

Functional Modules:

These are compensation elements which integrate to enable movement in different directions. Complex assembly problems can be overcome relatively easily by combining Functional Modules. False positioning can be compensated by degrees of freedom which can be applied. Functional Modules are used as compensation elements in assembly operations as well as the loading & unloading of machines and workplace holders. Automated functions, which could be implemented only with considerable effort for accurate positioning in the past are no longer a problem.

Functional Modules Include these Series:

TK DIN/ISO Tool Changer
ISO Robot Tool Change Adapter.

The Tool Changer has been designed and built to meet the most stringent specifications of automobile manufacturers. The Tool Changer features a high number of Air Ports, Electric Contacts (12 or 24 pins), and Hydraulic and Water Ports for the Welding Gun Tool Changer.Fast & problem-free changing from tools and grippers at robots & gantries up to a payload of 1000 kg. Transmission of electrical signals by spring fitted contact pins. Coupling & uncoupling of pneumatic & hydraulic lines.

The Robot Side has an ISO mounting pattern to fit the Robot Flange directly, without an additional adapter plate. The locking mechanism, with cone and several hardened balls generates a high holding force and is failsafe due to the spring behind the Locking Cylinder. It compensates for misalignment at pick up by as much as 1/8”: once the Robot Side is about 1/8” distance to the Tool Side firing the Locking Mechanism will pull up the Tool and lock it, thus allowing for faster cycle times.

FM Series Remote Centre Compliance Wrist
Compensates for part misalignment during assembly.

The Remote Centre Compliance units facilitate assembly and machine loading-unloading by compensating for the misalignment of parts, fixtures or trays. It reduces forces in insertion applications, avoiding excessive part and tooling wear.
The FM units will provide compensation in all directions X, Y and Z as well as rotational compliance around these axes. The maximum compensation at minimum insertion forces are indicated at the Remote Centre of Compliance.

The standard Compliance Wrist (Model FM-G) is used with small payloads and slow moving sequences. The installation of two overload bolts (FM-O) limits oscillations when travelling. With short cycle times/high handling speeds with operations which take place horizontally, the compliance wrist should be equipped with a pneumatic cylinder( FM-P). The installation of a torsion protection is necessary for the transmission of torsion moments and when inertial forces lead to the torsion moments with rotation and swivel movements. The FM-V with torsion protection is especially for work with transition and press fittings.

KA Series Lateral Alignment “X-Y” Device
Compensates for lateral misalignment during assembly.

The Lateral Compliance Device provides compensation for misalignment in X-Y axis with no rotation or Z axis compliance. Almost “free floating” due to very low friction forces of the roller bearings supports. Usually used with “Z-Axis” compliance or Remote Centre Compliance, to facilitate insertion at assembly, palletizing, or machine load-unload. If shocks are to be expected, the use of an ULS Robot Overload Limiter is advised. The locking cylinder centres the tool plate and secures the unit during robot rapid movement.

ULS & ULD Series Robot Load Limiter
Collision protection during assembly.

The Robot Load Limiter protects the Robot, Tooling and the Part in case of collision by decoupling and sending a “Stop” signal to the Robot Controller. The built-in sensor is very sensitive and can detect 0.002” displacement. The “Trip Point” can be adjusted by adjusting the air pressure, thus making the Robot Limiter very rigid (80psi) during fast Robot movements and softer (20psi) when necessary. In case of collision and decoupling, the ULS unit will reset automatically, due to the built in springs and over travel limit pins, upon removal of the crash condition.

ZN “Z” Axis Compliance Device
Compensates for different part heights or excessive force.

The Z Axis compliance unit compensates for different heights at part placement or excessive force at insertion. The “insertion” force can be varied by using different springs or by varying the air pressure. The 4 or more guiding rods provide excellent rigidity and accuracy in the Z direction. There is no rotation or X-Y compliance. The locking cylinder can be used to lock the unit during robot motion.

RR Series Rotary Actuator
Extremely fine design, adjustable up to 180 degrees max. and payload up to 900 N. Stackable in order to obtain rotation devices with several degrees of freedom.
This unit gives rotation-free play, driven by rack gear via two opposite moving pneumatic cylinders. It features adjustable thrust and gives direct flanging of grippers and tools. The rotary table is pulled by a toothed rack via two opposite pneumatic cylinders. High axial and tracking forces can be taken up by high duty bearings.

KMS- Si Force & Torque sensor
The force& torque sensors of the KMS Series are high capacity measuring systems. The KMS sensors enable 6 axis measurements in a three dimensional space. The inboard electronics provide easy connection to the control program via a bus card.



12 DOF Sensor Series
Featuring the new sensor generation, 3 force vectors, 3 torque vectors as well as the acting lateral and rotation accelerations can be measured simultaneously. With this pick-up sensor it is possible to calculate constant forces in robot movement free from the acting acceleration forces.
Also new analysing software can easily calculate the parts moments of inertia and so identify robot load conditions.

AUTOMOTIVE Special Grippers

Engine Block Grippers
A heavy duty gantry robot using this special design, multi-function gripper can rotate the heavy engine block 90 degs. and transfer it between machining operations.


Heavy Parts Grippers
Two synchronized ABB robots are necessary to transfer a 200lb. crankshaft. The grippers are very strong, though very lightweight; they grab the heavy crankshaft at the two ends for the transfer operation.


Cylinder Liner Grippers
Developed for the assembly of cylinder liners in a mold for aluminium engine blocks, this complex gripper can handle (8) liners as well as the whole engine block at 400 degrees. C.


Crankshaft Forging Grippers
This double sided gripper picks up the hot (1,400 degs C) rod from the oven and loads it into the forging press. After forging, the gripper picks up the crank shaft and transfers it to a sawing station.


Die-cast Engine Block Grippers
IPR have developed several specialized Grippers to handle all the operations
in a Robotic Diecast Cell. These End Effectors, designed and built by IPR, have been in operation for several years in many Automotive plants.

 


AUTOMOTIVE- Robotic Wax Spray Head

Anti-corrosion automotive body cavity wax treatment
Lifetime Warranty for car body rust through has been made possible with the development of anticorrosion wax treatment of welding seams inside car body cavities. Robotic wax spraying results in significant wax savings (up to 80% less wax then in manual spraying) and better quality, faster cycle times. In order to reach in tight spaces inside car body cavities, there are about (8) robots with over (20) specialized nozzles.

IPR has developed a Wax Spray System consisting of a family of Spray Heads, with one, two, or four nozzles. This method reduces the number of robots needed and provides the specialized robotic spraying equipment developed specifically for the demanding requirements of robotic anticorrosion wax spraying.
