PHD Inc is a leading manufacturer of pneumatic and hydraulic industrial automation actuators, designed to help companies across all industries optimize their manufacturing processes.  Their product range consists of a full line of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, escapements, grippers, linear slides, rotary actuators, clamps, multi-motion actuators, switches and sensors.

These hydraulic and pneumatic actuators provide the fundamental motion to push, pull, lift, rotate, turn, grip, reach, clamp, hold, position, escape, insert, load, unload, pick, place, and orient parts or materials in your manufacturing processes.  Applications include loading/unloading, assembly, packaging, work-holding, positioning, material handling, orienting and feeding.

Their PPC Group provides direct bolt-on replacement cylinders in Sidel® machines which globally out-perform the original specifications.

For over forty years, PHD's foundation has been innovation, superior performance, quality, service, and value.  From their humble beginnings in 1957, founders Harry Sr., Jack, Tom, and Jim Neff along with Dick Futter and Dan Flickinger had a vision . . . To manufacture a small bore cylinder that provides customers durability, reliability, strength, and rebuild ability for extended value.  From this vision, PHD and the Tom Thumb® cylinder was created.

PHD Clamps offer very low cost of ownership, exceptional flexibility, and are unsurpassed in ruggedness.
Units come in two sizes, four jaw styles, and five jaw opening increments to fit a wide range of applications.
A wide selection of modular jaw tips is also offered.

Series PB Clamps are ideal for a wide range of work holding applications including welding environments, and are available in one working day from receipt of order. Four bore sizes with short or long strokes are available to accommodate a wide variety of tasks. Left and right rotations can be ordered to fit the application.

Series PA Clamps are ideal for automated part holding, and are available in one working day from receipt of order. Five sizes and left and right rotations are available for a wide variety of tasks.

Series GRM Clamps are designed specifically for handling sheet metal in stamping/fabricating press applications.   A compact size makes the Series GRM Clamp ideal for applications in confined work areas.

The Series PDG Disappearing Gauge features a simple, compact design and is ideal for stopping and positioning sheet metal panels or other parts. The unit's compact design allows it to fit inside a progressive die where it will retract or "disappear" from the work area as panels move to the next stage of processing.

The Series PDK Crowder is ruggedly designed to absorb high impact forces and is ideal for pushing sheet metal into location for precise positioning. The Series PDK Crowder's compact size accommodates limited space applications.

Series PFC Frame Clamps feature a rugged cam design that provides consistent clamping force throughout a wide power window. The unit's wide jaw throat accommodates large parts with simple tooling, making it ideal for heavy parts clamping.

Advantages: High clamping force, two jaw styles, quiet operation, fully field repairable, lowest cost of ownership.


NEW Series PHL Heavy Lifters .Series PHL Lifters are ideal for automated, high load part lifting applications and are available in one working day. Units are available in six stroke lengths (50,80, 100, 125, 160 and 200 mm) and are powered by a 63 mm ISO/VDMA cylinder.

PHD's Series PLC Pin Locating Clamp is ideal for clamping parts in weld areas and features a completely enclosed design to provide maximum protection against weld slag and other contaminants. A built-in locking mechanism locks the clamp's pin in any position to hold panels in place if air pressure is lost or removed. A manual part release is standard for easy part retrieval. Other features available for the Series PLC Clamp include shimming part support, open or closed position sensing, and a choice of five pin sizes and two pin styles.

The Series PLL Lite Lifter is ruggedly designed to absorb high impact forces and is ideal for lifting light sheet metal panels out of dies. The Series PLL Lifters compact size allows the unit to fit inside the press, close to the panel, to accommodate short tooling arms.

The Series PNC Number Cruncher® Clamp is a pneumatically powered actuator that provides a unique solution for stamping numbers into sheet metals. It produces up to 26,000 lbs of grip force 87 psi to effectively stamp dates, shift numbers, and model numbers into metal panels and other materials.

Advantages: Operates quietly in 0.2 seconds, eliminates downtime required for changing or replacing characters.


PHD's Series PNC Automatic Numbering Clamp is designed to rapidly stamp consecutive characters into metal, plastic, or other components for part identification applications. This cost effective stamping solution features a rugged design, operates quietly in 0.5 seconds, and reduces downtime associated with changing or replacing characters.

Advantages: Automated stamping for part identification, high clamping force, quiet operation, fully field repairable.


Series PS Reach & Pick Clamps allow pneumatic loading and unloading of panels with only one external valve. The clamps feature a lightweight design and can be rotated and spherically adjusted to match panel for fast and accurate setup. Units are available in three standard stroke lengths adjustable from full stroke down to ½ inch.

PHDinc offers a wide range of cylinders. Ranging from Tom Thumb Cylinders, known for durability and versatility,
to Compact Cylinders where space is critical. PHD also offers standard Series CV Cylinders design for long travel lengths.  

A,AV, HV CYLINDER

Tom Thumb ® Medium Duty Cylinders (3/4", 1", and 1-1/8" Bore Sizes) are available in a wide range of mounting styles and options. All units are of tie-rod construction and repairable. Available in single or double-acting.

Advantages: Wide range of options and sizes makes it fast and easy to select suitable cylinder.


A3V, H3V, A3 CYLINDER

Three Position Cylinders provide three positive stop positions in a single rod unit. The positions are achieved through an auxiliary cylinder integrated into the three position unit.

Advantages: Four standard bore sizes available, standard stroke lengths range from 1/4" to 6" for each cylinder.


AV,HV CYLINDER

The 1-3/8" Bore Medium Duty Cylinders have the same features as the smaller Tom Thumb® Cylinders but based on a more rugged design construction.

Advantages: Designed for long life in many rugged applications.

AV2, HV2, A2 CYLINDER

The Back-To-Back Cylinder is used where three or four-rod positions are required. Two cylinders are attached back-to-back using common tie-rods. Different strokes on each cylinder give the capability of four positive stop positions.

Advantages: Four positive stop positions possible, two cylinders with common tie rod, independent rod movement on each end of unit.


AVS, HVS,AS CYLINDER

Spherical Mount Cylinders provide a spherical mount on the cap end of a cylinder. Spherical rod ends may be ordered separately to get the spherical mounting on both ends. This mounting allows for misalignment as well as pivoting movement.

Advantages: Four standard bore sizes available.


CRS CYLINDER

PHD's newly redesigned Series CRS Cylinder now features a self-lubricating nitrile piston seal to increase cylinder performance and provides the best unit life rating in its class of 70 million linear inches of travel!  In addition, this compact cylinder now features a clear anodized extruded body with integral slots for flush mounting of PHD’s Series 6790 Miniature Switches for additional space savings.  Optional shock pads extend cylinder life and minimize piston noise without increasing the length of the cylinder.  The compact size of the Series CRS Cylinder makes it ideal for applications where cylinder length is critical.

Advantages:  Compact size, eight bore sizes, integral switch slots, thru and threaded holes for easy cylinder mounting, available with two piston lengths.


CTS CYLINDER

The new generation Series CTS Cylinder now features self-lubricating nitrile seals that provide a unit life rating of 30 million linear inches of travel. In addition, the new design features a clear anodized extruded body with integral slots for flush mounting of PHD’s Series 6790 Miniature Switches, providing additional space savings. Optional shock pads extend cylinder life and minimize piston noise. The shock pad design adds no additional length to the cylinder. Series CTS Compact Guide Rod Cylinders excel in non-rotating cylinder applications where unit length is critical. They also perform as light duty slides where precise location is not required and side loading is limited.

Advantages: Compact size, eight bore sizes, integral switch slots, thru and threaded holes for easy cylinder mounting.


CV CYLINDER

PHD Series CV Cylinder's standard units conform to ISO 6431 and VDMA 24562 or ISO 6432 specifications. Units are available in eight bore sizes from 20 to 100 mm, and standard stroke lengths up to 1000 mm with a wide range of mounting accessories for ease of application. Units can be specified with Hushcontrol® Advantage that provides superior control and low noise levels even at high cycle speeds.

Advantages: Available in eight bore sizes, versatile design for flexibility, wide range of mounting accessories.


EA, EL, EH, ES CYLINDER

Heavy Duty Cylinders (3/4", 1-1/8", and 1-3/8" Bore Sizes) feature cartridge-type bushings and hard chrome-plated alloy steel piston rods for high cycle and side load applications. Units are available in a wide range of mounting styles and options.

Advantages: Three standard bore sizes available, designed to provide long life and high performance.


NEAG, NRHG- TOM THUMB CYLINDER

Tom Thumb© Non-Rotating Rod Cylinders incorporate an internally contained precision spline assembly and a hollow piston rod that eliminates the need for outriggers and external attachments. They can be specified in various mounting styles with a wide range of options available.

NP, NHG TOM THUMB CYLINDER

PHD's Tom Thumb© Non-Rotating Rod Cylinders incorporate an internally contained precision spline assembly and a hollow piston rod that eliminates the need for outriggers and external attachments. These pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders can be specified in various mounting styles with a wide range of options available. These cylinders are ideal for many applications including packaging, assembly machines, machine loading/unloading, general industrial automation, and more.

O SERIES CYLINDER

Compact Oval Cylinders (3/4", 1", and 1-1/4" equivalent bore sizes) are both short and narrow. These compact cylinders provide high forces with their oval piston construction. Compact Oval Cylinders are ideal for tight applications where cylinder length and width are critical.

Advantages: Compact size, available with two piston lengths, rectangular shape provides slim profile.


TD CYLINDER

The Tandem Cylinder provides close, smooth control of piston rod speed even with changing external loads. The unit is air powered while the hydraulic portion serves as a control medium.

Air/Oil Tandem Multi-Motion Actuators provide the control of hydraulics with the simplicity of pneumatics. One end of the rotary section is a closed loop hydraulic control member, while the other provides pneumatic power to the racks. Air/oil tandem is available on the rotary section only.

PHD's Series RCC Rotary Actuators feature an exceptionally low profile design and provide high axial thrust loads. Units are available in three bore sizes (8, 12, & 16 mm) and two standard rotations (90º and 180º). Series RCC Rotary Actuators are ideal for many applications including light part rotation, grip and flip applications, labelling applications, electronic assembly, and more.

The Series RF Rotary Actuator is available in 14, 20, and 25mm bore sizes with standard rotation of 180 degrees and torque ranging from 7 to 67 in-lb at 100 psi. All units feature built-in standard angle adjustments and are infinitely adjustable from 0-180 degrees of rotation providing superb flexibility and control. PHD’s internal urethane shock pads provide quiet operation and end of rotation deceleration with precise repeatability. The Series RF Rotary Actuator operates with zero backlash at the end of rotations for precise rotary positioning.

Series RI and Series RIxH Rotary Actuators offer standard 2-day delivery.  Series RI Rotary Actuators incorporate internal air passages within the rotary pinion to allow pneumatic coupling to other devices without external tubing.  Series RIxH Rotary Actuators incorporate a hollow pinion to provide protection and routing for electrical cables and air lines.

PHD Series RL Rotary Actuators cover a wide range of sizes from miniature 12 mm bore units to 63 mm bore units. PHD Powered Slides include cantilever and saddle types, and operate using air, air/oil, or electric power sources. PHD offers over ten different series of slides designed to handle loads ranging from a few ounces up to 300 pounds.

Series SFP Slides feature rail bearing technology to provide smooth, precise linear motion with high accuracy within confined spaces. The Series SFP Slide is designed with a stainless steel outer band and saddle scraper seal to enclose the bearing system and continuously protect the slide's internal mechanisms from contaminants. These space saving slides are available in two bore sizes with travel lengths up to 3400 mm in 25 mm increments and provide the lowest load deflection and highest moment capacity combination in the industry.

The standard features on the cylinder include internal shock pads for quiet operation and smooth deceleration, FDA approved lubrication for use in food packaging applications, and robust internal components for maximum durability and life. Optional manifold and valve combination is available to increase response times and simplify plumbing issues.The
U22-option ( a MAC 400 series valve) is a direct valve manifold which provides exceptional response time in the BCZ2S.

Series BST Fixed Head Transfer Arms : direct replacement to fit most Sidel® Series1 machines requiring a fixed head.
BST Transfer Arms provide significantly longer service life and reduce both maintenance and downtime in stretch blow mould applications. The BST Transfer Arm head and jaws are made of hardened stainless steel to provide maximum life and durability. The 30° head offers a low profile design, with a more rigid design in all head styles that significantly reduces jaw vibration. All units come standard with FDA approved lubrication for use in food packaging applications. A common modular head design is used on all fixed head units and can be easily converted to other jaw openings. BST Transfer Arms are also lighter in overall weight than other available arms. Units are easily and quickly field repairable, which enables you to maximize your Transfer Arm’s life and investment.

BCN Series Needle Actuator

BCN series- Drop in replacement for a Bimba®D-1871-A needle actuator which will mount directly into the existing nose mount interface.
